Your "Check Engine" Light is really an "Check Emission" Light. It means that something related to your onboard Emmission Control System is failing and needs to be looked at. We have a specialized Mercedes computer to read the system and determine what needs to be changed.
Typical Repairs Include Replacing:
Gas Cap: They can go bad and cause fumes to leak out. If they go bad a sensor will be triggered.
Oxygen Sensor: This controls the air/fuel mixture. Click here to read more about the Oxygen Sensor.
Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF): This converts the amount of air drawn into the engine into a voltage signal. This is necessary to determine how much fuel to inject, when to ignite the cylinder, and when to shift the transmission.
